Are you considering Income Tax Preparation as a part-time job or second career? To prepare income taxes for money in Oregon (or be a part of the decision-making process about a return), the Tax Preparer must be licensed by the Oregon Board of Tax Preparers. To get licensed, the student must pass an 80 hour tax course in Basic Income Tax Preparation, and pass a 5-hour test administered by the Board. The newly licensed Tax Preparer (LTP) must work under the supervision of a Licensed Tax Consultant (LTC), CPA or attorney. Once the LTP has 780 hours of supervised tax work experiece, the LTP can take a higher level Board test and become a LTC. Every tax office must have a designated LTC. Each and every year of licensing, the licensee must take at least 30 hours of continuing education in tax theory.
We offer Summer and Fall classes for Basic Income Tax Preparation and Continuing Education seminars for licensed professionals. Each class is 3 hours long, offering morning or evening classes and will provide make up classes as needed. Please call our office for a schedule of dates and times.
